If we help our clients to achieve, measure, and report success, they will continue to see social media as viable channels for sharing their brand messages. If we fail to measure the effort, next year their dollars will go elsewhere.

Thanks for the comments. I hope to see you more often!

I always tell clients they need to schedule in time to measure their progress, so they know they are getting something from their online (and offline) marketing efforts. Very few get the chance to do it. I'll be pointing them to this post for an easy way to see how.

Re: Buying vs Earning Twitter Followers

You should try out the service buy twitter followers from buytwitterbuddies.com

Re: StumbleUpon Paid Discovery Fails

Jeremy - That's a good answer there on Quora. I think that the idea behind Paid Stumble is great. If they can figure out a way to drive more qualified traffic, I would try it again. In the meantime, I think that Google AdWords tends to drive some really good traffic.

Did you try Paid Discovery? Did it work for you?

Re: StumbleUpon Paid Discovery Fails

Hello,

I came across this post as I was researching people's experiences with Paid Discovery.

I thought you might find this article interesting about Paid Discovery and high bounce rates.

http://www.quora.com/Does-Stum...

Essentially, the way Stumble Upon works most analytics programs (like Google Analytics) will record high bounce rates.

Of course since you experienced pretty decent bounce rates with organic SU traffic vs that of Paid Discovery it might not be applicable here.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Do you have a link to your Pinterest that you would like to share?

Re: Guy’s Guide to Pinterest: Pinning Testosterone

Thanks for the article, Buddy. I have been exploring the Pinterest waters for about a month...my experience is very similar to yours. Mostly just having fun...recently began a board on which I pin pictures of women's hair styles that I like...and I began it with some trepidation...I want to have fun on Pinterest, and brand, but not interested in being seen as sexist. Finding a lot of very cool outdoor images that are getting repinned frequently.

Re: Guy’s Guide to Pinterest: Pinning Testosterone

Thanks, Ashley. I think that guys should pin what they want. If they like fashion, post fashion. If they like cars, post that. Pinterest has really grown to be a nice place where you express your passions, no matter what they are.

If you return, please post your Pinterest address. I'll check out what you're pinning.

However, we must remember that commerce will always try to find ways to ensure people will pay for something. I can picture a live-author signing event where a fan can immediately download a authorized author-signing edition while waiting in line for them to have the author sign the digital screen to personalize the book for the one time. This of coarse will come at a higher price than the standard edition...do not underestimate the industrys ability to see profit.

Re: The “Idea Etherverse” (or How to Be More Creative at Work)

Thanks, Jesse.
Excellent post on the power of finding & nurturing creative ideas. Encouraging all members of an organization to access the "idea etherverse" yields richer thinking, and different perspectives on a proposed concept.

And I suppose in the future, I am going to have to be happy without a publisher, because many publishers will not be able to survive the new publishing model.

You're right, more authors will publish directly and discover their audience through Amazon.

And the digital, ebook assets you buy now from Amazon? There will probably be some newer, hotter technology that will make you want to upgrade certain things anyhow. Don't worry, they'll find new and creative ways to help you part with your money, no matter what year it is!

Re: SOPA Blackout Screenshots Including Google, Reddit, Wikipedia

I never realized how utterly dependent on Wikipedia I was until the blackout. I'd personally like to see the publisher cut out of the equation, so both the author and consumer make out better. This is going to happen, slowly, as the tools get better, and brick and mortar presence lessens in importance. We se the start of this with iBooks Author, but that's way too limiting in distribution.

Another thing I'd like to get solved is the ecosystem lock in. When I buy an ebook from Amazon, what do I do if Amazon goes out of business in 10 years?

Re: 11 Things Worth Paying for Online

Dude, how did I even forget about hosting?
